Suggest Treatment For Hard Swollen Bruising On Shin After Injury

I have a friend from Canada staying. He is due to fly home on Wednesday. On arrival last Wednesday he fell down some stairs and bruised his shin badly. It looks slightly bruised but Is Hard and swollen. I am worried of any implications on a 7 hour flight. He says it is painful but it walking without a limp but says it is getting more painful.

Hi there.

Keep the limb elevated. Apply ice. Don't touch the painful region. Take pain killers. If there is pain in walking after 7 days, get an Xray done.
