Suggest Treatment For Frequent Bowel Movement After A Colorectal Resection
My wife had a colorectal resection on March 17.She s been going to the bathroom constantly and her butt is raw and giving her lots of pain. She s using Licocane and A&D ointment, but they don t help very much. Our surgeon recommended Fibercon but she s afraid to take it because it supposed to stop constipation, which makes no sense. That s not her problem. Is there anything that can slow down the bowel movements and ease the pain?
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I noted the history about your wife having colorectal resection in March 17, going to bathroom constantly, but is raw that is causing lots of pain. Lidocain and A and O ointments are not helping. She was recommended Fibercon but afraid to take that, and she wants to know whether there is something that can slow down the bowel movements and ease the pain.
As per the history this looks to be due to either intestinal infection or fast transit of the pancreatic enzymes not getting enough time or neutralization and hence the problem. I would advise her to get the stool tested particularly for pancreatic enzymes and infection. If there is an infection a proper course of an antibiotic can help to cure her problems. If due to pancreatic enzymes, the medicines to slow down the motility and foods and beverages that can neutralize the enzymes can help alleviate the pains and problems.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
