Hii..my daughter is 2 years 5 months .she's been having fever , cold and cough since last 3 days. Doctor has prescribed maxtra and levolin syrup for cold and cough. Is it safe to give both maxtra and levolin syrup at a time? I am confused whether it was maxtra and levolin / maxtra or levolin. Please guide .

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have fever, cold and cough in a child which is due to upper respiratory tract infection. Maxtra and levolin syrup as given to child is a safe combination except it will make child drowsy. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination as infection has already spread. You should get throat swab test , viral culture test , complete blood profile to find out extent of infection. You should start with antibiotic such as augmentin along with decongestants and anti inflammatory such as Levocetrizine . For now do warm saline gargles. Take steam inhalation. Take proper rest , keep yourself hydrate. Maintain hygiene. Take diet rich in multivitamins.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
