Suggest Treatment For Fever And Lump In Jawline Of Child

My 6 year old daughter has been running a fever of 101-105 off and on for the past month. The doctor said it was a virus (two weeks ago) and to let it run its coarse. The fever retutmed, again, and now she has a marble sized, movable, nonpainful lump on the right side of her jawline. Could this perhaps be what is causing the fevers and if so, what is it and what do we do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a marble sized moveable lump that is not painful along with having fever due to viral infection can be due to swelling of the lymph nodes secondary to infection..
As lymph nodes are draining sites, therefore they can get swollen and infected secondary to infection..
I would suggest you to do warm compresses over the lymph nodes..
Give Tylenol or Acetaminophen to your daughter for relief from fever..
Give her ample of rest and a nutritious diet..
Feed her with ample of fluids..
In case if fever does not subside in next one week more consult an Infectious medicine specialist and get her evaluated and investigated for possible causes of infection..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
