Suggest Treatment For Fever And Joint Pains
Hi, I m having on and off fever upto 100 degrees for past three weeks. Most of the times when fever is there i get joint pains as well in leg ankle, leg joints, hand etc. otherwise i dont get any headache, nausea or loss of appetite. I conducted CBC, Widal test, RA Factor, urine analysis, chickengunia test and everything seems to be normal. Initially doctor though i had chickengunia and i was put on antibiotics for five days and i didnt had any fever/joint pains. when i stopped the first course of antibiotics i started having fever and the doctor asked me to continue antibiotics and take CBC once again, he suspected that i can have dengue. I started second five days of antibiotics and starting 3rd day i started developing fever even while on antibiotics. Mostly the fever comes in early morning or in evening around 4 pm. I stopped antibiotics two days back. I am on bed rest now. On monday around 10 am i had fever of 100 degrees and i took crocin and i was alright in about 30 mins. Similary yesterday evening i got fever for abt 100 degrees and took crocin. I m really confused if its a normal viral fever and i am taking complete bed rest for past four days already.

Hi,
fever with joint pain may refer to think upon Chikungunya or Dengue Fever. Both are viral disease and fever must be high grade( 103 or more). What was the Heamatocrit(Hct or PCV) and Platelet count ? and there is no role of antibiotics . and never must be prescribed if suspected to Dengue or chikungunya ( Only paracetamol to reduce fever. If platelet and Hematocrit is normal( as you mentioned ) and fever is more than 3 weeks now i think for Bacterial infection and go to Blood Culture Test
If u visited recently to Bihar Westbengal region go for Blood test K 39 for kalaazar. and send me your recent CBC report till take
Tab Paracetamol 500 twice a Day and do Fever Charting .
