Suggest Treatment For Fatigue, Bowel And Gastrointestinal Issues
My husband is 53 years old and has stage 1 cirrohsis and Hep C for over 12 years. He has not had a drink in 12 years since his diagnosis. He tried treatments 10 years ago for his Hep C but couldn't tolerate them and after 3 months he stopped. His liver enzymes get checked on a regular basis and just recently they came back elevated to 200. His internist is recommending he see a Gastro Doctor because he has a lot of bowel and gastro issues. He will either get chronic diarrhea or constipation. He is very fatiqued all the time now and has lost of a lot o muscle mass. But he is also type 2 diabetic and his sugar isn't always controlled. He smokes about a half a pack a day which is an improvement from a pack and a half a day. Should he see a liver specialist as well or just see the Gastro Dr as recommended by his internist.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, ideally it is one of the same whether to see the liver specialist or Gastroentrologist (Both are same) I would advise to stop the smoking here in this case changing the life style is more important, with hepatitis c and other medical condition one needs to be very much careful liver transplant could be the option for this case hope this information helps.
