Suggest Treatment For Fast Pulse Rate Due To Atrial Tachycardia
I have atrial tachycardia and am having a fast pulse (100 per min.). Taking deep breaths and coughs. Had it for about an hour. Taking metoprolol, cozaar, plavix, hydroclorazide. 84 years old and have had it for over 60 years.
Had mild stroke 8 years ago.

I understand your concern and would recommend consulting with your doctor and performing some tests:
- a cardiac ultrasound
- a resting ECG
- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged time
- thyroid hormone levels
- complete blood count
- blood electrolytes.
An optimization of your actual therapy (increasing the dose of metoprolol) may be needed.
Anticoagulation therapy may be needed in case of atrial fibrillation.
