General & Family Physician 's  Response
This is due to post – herpetic neuralgia. Herpes Zoster (shingles) is a viral disease characterized by a painful skin rash with blisters involving a localized area. It is caused by varicella zoster virus which remains inactivated in our body. Post – herpetic neuralgia is a complication of shingles. It causes pain at the site of lesion. Vaccine is available for those who are more than 50 years old. Vaccination reduces the frequency of post – herpetic neuralgia.
Advice
1.     Amitriptyline 25 mg per oral at bed time daily for 15 days
2.     Methylcobalamin 500 mcg once daily per oral for 3 months
3.     Your mother is more than 50 years you can take vaccine under medical supervision
Thanks
