Suggest Treatment For Extreme Itching And Dryness Of Skin

Hi, I have been suffering from extremely itchy skin for the past 2 or so months. It s worse at night and it turns into red, dry skin with scabs that get infected.I have tried steroid creams (many different strengths), antihistamines, antibiotics and nothing works. Steroid creams and antibiotics will clear the scabs, then as soon as I stop using them it comes back even worse. It can t be bed bugs or anything contagious because my partner doesn t have any of the symptoms that I do.I also don t believe it s eczema because I ve had mild eczema since I was a child and it is very different to this.I thought it was the mold in my house, so I moved into my brothers house over a week ago and nothing has changed. Is it possible that the mold is still in my system? Or is there another explanation for my skin?It s really affecting my everyday life. I m fatigued from lack of sleep, self conscious from the scabs on my skin, stressed out and anxious because I m so itchy & sore and I need to find a cure. I can t keep going on like this! Thank you in advance :)

Hi,

You may be suffering from a severe case of eczema and dryness which leads to severe itching which inturn leads to excoriations, erosions, bleeding and scabing. If you are using steroids for a long time, suddenly stopping them will make the skin condition worse and the cycle can occur again. What you can do is:
1) Use a good quality moisturizer "cream" and apply it all over the body 3-4 times a day
2) Applying moisutizer after bath is must, where the skin is little damp and retains moisture
3) Take a sedating antihistaminic at night to decrease the itching and will give you a good night's sleep
