Suggest Treatment For Extraforaminal Herniation With Root Compression Of Foraminal Nerve

I have L2-L3 Extraforaminal Herniation with root compression of the foraminal nerve (MRI results). I spent a week on IV meds in the hospital and just fininshed two weeks of steroids, anti-inflammatories, pain meds, etc. From the start I have had numbness in my right pelvic region which now varies between burning, tingling, and pulsing pain. I can only sleep on my right side with my legs and toes extended. My attending Neurosurgeon thinks that I might benefit from a orthoscopic surgery to repair the disc and relieve the pressure on the nerve. He is concerned about long term nerve damage and pain. How does this all sound to you?
