Suggest Treatment For Extra Bone Growth On Neck Of A 5 Year Old

My grandson is at Children s Hospital in New Orleans and at first they thought it was a protruding disc in his neck. After the MRI, they found an extra bone growth on his neck which is causing him horrible pain. What should be the next procedure. He is 5 yrs. old and has Down Syndrome.

Hi....by what you quote I feel that it could be a cervical rib. If it's asymptomatic nothing would have been required. But as its causing pain the best option would be to remove it.

But to be more specific and scientific in my suggestions to you I suggest you upload the images of the MRI and report on this website. I will be glad to help and guide you further.
