Suggest Treatment For Excessive Crying Due To Depression

I'm a 20 year old female. About 5'4" and maybe 126lbs. When I was 15 I was diagnosed with depression and have been on a few different types of anti-depressants along with a low dose anti-psychotic to help me sleep at night. I stopped taking all pills however because there was still this dooming feeling that no matter how great at things I do or how often people compliment me, I still felt like a failure -- so I thought I was misdiagnosed. I have been in college for two years now and I see a counselor here as well as the psychiatrist. She, again, diagnosed me with depression because I was struggling in school and worried about my mom back home. After 2 months on the pills, I still couldn't focus in class, I would have no desires to even go to my class. I would look at my homework and just cry because I boiled with frustrations and thoughts that I was going to fail anyways and never understand the materials. Now I seem to cry over the smallest things in life, like if my computer freezes or I get an answer wrong in class. Sometimes my resting heart rate is 126 which is extremely high for me. I don't have diabetes and as far as I'm aware no high cholesterol or blood pressure. Sometimes I get so frustrated I cry for hours and scream at people who try to help. It feels like anxiety but sounds like depression and I just want to be able to focus and raise my GPA without crying every few hours. Help?

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. You are depressed for sure. Tackling depression as early as possible may mean that you can address problems quickly and avoid symptoms becoming worse. There are various signs to watch out for. Knowing how to manage these signs and where to get support can help you cope with and recover from depression.

When you are depressed, you might not enjoy activities that you once loved. You might also think you won’t enjoy something but, when you do it, you actually enjoy it more than you expected.

If you don’t try activities, you reduce the number of things that may help you cope with your depression. To increase the amount of activities you enjoy, you can:

1.list activities you used to enjoy – include as many as possible
and plan one of these activities each day
2. Increase the amount of time available for activities you enjoy
after an activity, think about or write down what you enjoyed about it
talk to others about activities they like.

If you keep going, it will help you get better. You will enjoy activities more as you recover.
