Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Papillae On The Tongue

I have had what I believe to be enlarged circumvallate papillae for the past week. They do not hurt but they make my throat feel scratchy. I have also noticed a white pimple-like circle on the side of my tongue, which does not hurt but is just unattractive. I have heard that all of these bumps are normal and go away within a few weeks, but they are really bothering me and I want them to go away. How can I make them go back to normal?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain swollen circumvallate papillae can occur due to a number of reasons throat infection, oral infections, post nasal drip, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection, acid reflux, allergies etc..
The white appearing circle over the tongue can be an Apthous ulcer or a canker sore..
I would suggest you to gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Do warm saline gargles..
Avoid spicy and hard foods to prevent irritation..
Drink plenty of water and suck ice pops..
You can also gargle with antimicrobial mouthwash to prevent infection..
Take a multivitamin tablet daily for 15 days..
In case of no improvement in a week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
