Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Liver & Dizziness In Alcoholics

Hi, My husband is an alcoholic, and was seen in the ER last week because of dizziness. His blood work showed enlarged liver, pancreas and bone marrow not functioning properly. The Dr. said if he didn't stop drinking, he could possibly be dead in 3 months. This morning his heart rate is low, he is vomitting, dizzy and skin very clammy....He will not go to hospital, ony wants to sleep. Any idea what could be going on?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

Here your all symptoms direct or indirectly because of alcohol....
Here heart failure should be ruled out.....
It can lead dizziness......

So for that ECG or echo need to be done to rule out cardiac cause....

You might have cirrhosis and portal hypertension as you are chronic drinker...
It can lead functional pulmonary failure by portal hypertension called hepatopulmonary syndrome....

By alcohol wernick encephalopathy can be there by thiamin deficiency.......so vitamin tablet taken...

If edema occurs diuretic taken...

Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination and subsequent investigation ...

Take care.
