Suggest Treatment For Elbow Injury

I do martial arts and several weeks ago I was kicked on the outside of my elbow. When I woke up the next morning the pain was so severe that I couldn t brush my teeth or straighten my arm. I went to the doctor and he said that I probably bruised the tendons. I wore a sling for a week and took anti-inflammatory meds along with RICE treatment. Fast forward several weeks later, I still am having trouble fully extending my arm and the pain is very localized. It hurts to brush my hair and my teeth. I was wondering if it could have been a hairline fracture that wasn t caught on x-ray or if it is just taking that long to heal.

Hello,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that probably you are suffering from tendinitis .I think you may be suffering from lateral epicondylitis (a form of tendinitis) called tennis elbow. In this pain is on outer side of elbow. Similar condition called golfers elbow is there in which pain is on inner side.Treatment of these conditions rest to the joint and analgesic such as diclofenac (three times a day after meals). Some of my patients who does not got relief by rest and analgesics , I give them triamcilone locally weekly till pain relief with good results.Rarely release operation is reguired. For exclusion of fracture you had already your X-ray done. You can further investigate by MRI. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health.Take care.
