Hi I have a rash on my leg close to my ankle for many years, I was told its eczema, inherited it is quite itchy. I am 60yrs old and diabetic can I use Candiderm cream which has steroids, antibiotics and antifungal properties included to treat my rash? Thank you.
I understand your concern for eczema like rash over ankle region.
In diabetic patients this type of problem which you have described is most often seen in the condition of high blood sugar or when the blood sugar is raised or when there is overweight status or obesity.
So I first and foremost request you to check out both these things in your routine and if both are the factors then must check the blood sugar status and control it as well as reduce your weight.
In my patients with your kind of problem I suggest them to apply a bland moisturizing cream and an emollient for multiple times a day.
I suggest my patients to apply a cream containing mild steroid for very short time till the rash is present. I suggest my patients short course of application of cream such hydrocortisone or desonide or fluticasone cream for less than a week period.
A round the clock coverage of antihistamine coverage provides earliest relief and less propensity of recurrence.
All the best.
