Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain After Qtip Stuck In Ear

Hi, my daughter stuck a qtip in her ear while I was brushing my other daughters hair. I think she pulled it out but was screaming horrifically for about 15 minutes. She is two and can t talk much so I can t tell if she is having trouble hearing. It s after hours and we are on vacation. Is this something to be seen right away in er? Or can it wait until morning?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
He ear pain can be due to the trauma the qtip caused.
Since your daughter is just 2 years old, the ear canals too are smaller and may not allow the tip to touch the Tympanic membrane so nothing much to worry.
Give her Pain-killer and an antibiotic if you have available with you, Otherwise can take her to ER as she will be examined to see how much trauma has been afflicted by the qtip.
