Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection

over 45 years ago I had what the ear nose & throat Doc said was a middle ear infection, no antibiotic just saline, with head held over the edge of bed. Finally deduced it was caused by mold. Must have been true because through the years, whenever I have had a balance problem (not vertigo). Have been able tp trace it to mold. Suspect the apt I occupy may be harboring some, due to leaks, etc. Is there any otc I can use that might help? Can t just move. I am 84 in good health otherwise, However the shortness of breath keeps me tired.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have ear infection which seems to be due to fungal infection, wax build up, fluid accumulation, Eustachian tube dysfunction and systemic disease infection. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles , take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants. Avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain hygiene of ear canal. Put Otogesic ear drops. You should go for audiometer testing as well to check hearing level.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
