Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough While Having Chest Infection

i had a chest infection for 4 and a half weeks and have suffered a dry cough since then which had been 7 weeks. I have been put on a blue inhaler but it's not helping and my chest is still tight, more so on my right side than the left. what should i do?

Hi welcome to HCM...

You have not mentioned any investigation here ....

Any cough more than three week should be evaluated through digital chest x ray to rule out bronchitis or pneumonia like condition.....

Here your auscultation also done along with physical examination ...

If bronchitis there spirometry done to asssese severity and accordingly management....

If bronchocobstriction there nebulization with ipratropium bromide might needed ...

If more inflammation short term steroid used ...

Sputum cytological examination sounds useful in such case ....
If needed sputum culture also done ...

Take care ..

Advise : Cosult physician or pulmonologist.

Hope my answer will be useful for you.
