Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough And Tonsillitis

I have been tested for strep and flu both were negative but have pain in my tonsils and have little energy. I sometimes cough but not often and it is a dry cough. Yesterday I had chills throughout the day as well as fever. Today very little to no chills but still feel a bit weak. The clinic diagnosed me with a upper respiratory condition. Is it common to feel pain in the tonsils and feel so tired with this diagnosis?

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Noted your history of negative strep and flu tests. Yet you have pain in the tonsils and little energy .
Dry cough can be treated with cough suppressants.
The history of chills and fever are definitely indicative of an infection and as you have been diagnosed as upper respiratory tract infection, I would advise you the following:
- Take full bed rest as this allows early recovery and reduces your exposure to more infection, dust and pollution which is so much necessary for getting cured.
- Antibiotics and supportive medicines as advised by your Doctor.
- Warm liquids sooth the throat
- Steam inhalation with plain water .

Take care and you will be fine.
