Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough And Sore Throat

I have a dry cough, sore throat and some squeezing feeling in my lungs that comes and goes. Its sort of like when you ve been out in cold weather too long. I ve previously been diagnosed with reactive airway disease and have an inhaler, but it isn t helping as much as I d like. Should I see a doctor urgently or can it wait until I can get to my primary care doctor in a week or so?

Hello Dear. The treatment for a sore throat depends on the cause. However, you can treat many sore throats at home.

Home treatment options include:

1. gargling with warm salt water
2. drinking plenty of warm fluids, such as teas, soup, and water
3. avoiding allergens and irritants, such as smoke and chemicals
4. taking throat lozenges
5. reducing inflammation with ibuprofen or acetaminophen tablets

You can first try these home remedies. There is no urgency. In case it is not subsiding you can go to your primary care doctor who may treat you with antibiotics.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
