Suggest Treatment For Dog Bite

I am Indranil's father. He is under anti epileptic drug during last 30 years. He took two times anti rabies vaccine due to dog bite. Last he took in October,2011, five injections. About two days back one dog scratched him. The dog stays in front of our house on the road. What is to be done.and how many injection is to be taken. Thanks. Dipali

Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

Following dog bite if there was minor scratch without any bleeding then no need for any Rabies Vaccine but if it is a major scratch or a deep scratch or if there was bleeding then Rabies vaccination has to be given.

Since One time full course of Rabies vaccination has been given second time only two doses given 3 days apart is enough.

Also if in past 5 years Tetanus Injection has not been taken then a Tetanus Shot also has to be taken .
