Unfortunately drainage is frequently the only way to resolve the problem of a large Bartholin's cyst. If you do decide to have it drained, it will relieve your pain, but frequently Bartholin's cysts can come back. Wearing loose fitting clothing and avoiding pressure on your vagina (for example, lots of women who cycle regularly get Bartholin's cysts) can help prevent recurrences. In the meantime, soaking your bottom in warm water every day can help to reduce the swelling and may help the cyst to burst on its own. Try to sit in a shallow tub with a few inches of warm/hot water every day for 20 minutes. I hope that is enough to relieve your symptoms and good luck.
