Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Swallowing

I an having difficulty swallowing when I take a large bite. It feels like the food stops before entering the stomach. It seems to be a constriction there. It has only happened a couple of times. If I drink water, it then slowly goes on down. Should I see a gastroenterologist?

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns.
I hope I have answered your query.
Yes, you should see gastroenterologsit and do barium swallow test or gastroscopy. Difficulty swallowing is also called dysphagia. It is usually a sign of a problem with your throat or esophagus and less common stomach or lungs. There are two types of problems that can make it hard for food and liquids to travel down your esophagus: The muscles and nerves that help move food through the throat and esophagus are not working right. Treatemnt depends on exact type so the cause should be established first.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
