Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Bowel Movement

I need a pediatrician for my 3 month old son. He hasn t had a bm since Saturday. Normally he has them everyday. Is there anything I can use to help him go to the bathroom? We have tried Karo in his formula, putting Vaseline on a thermometer. Yet he still hasn t had a bm. He just cries and cries.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of difficulty in bowel movement. It seems that your son have probably symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome , gastroenteritis, and due to lack of fibers in diet leading to constipation.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to give child 1-2 banana in a day. Avoid giving child more than 400 ml a day. You should give diet to child rich in fibers. If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order certain tests like stool test and can prescribe loperamide, ornidazole along with anti inflammatory medications. You should give child toilet training as well.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
