Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea, Vomiting And Fever

Hi. My 5 year old son got what I thought was the flu on Monday. Diarrhea, vomiting and a fever. He continued to have diarrhea for the next two days but seemed to have more energy and feeling better. Now it s Thursday and he still has diarrhea plus the vomiting and fever have returned. Any clue as to what this might be?

Hi,

As per your query about diarrhea, vomiting and fever from which he got some relief but still diarrhea is persisting shows that it is due to infection or gastroenteritis. Consult a pediatrician for proper evaluation and examination. Antibiotics like ofloxacin with tinidazole needs to be started and stool culture and sensitivity test is needed with consulting pediatrician. Give ORS frequently and probiotic like yoghurt and buttermilk will be beneficial for gut flora. Give light digestive food, give analgesic paracetamol for fever.

I hope this information helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Jyoti Pandey
