Suggest treatment for diarrhea and imbalance issues

My husband has been having diarrhea for the last five days or so, and normally a total insomniac, he has not been able to do anything but sleep all day. He s also complained of balance problems. He has bi-polar disorder, and for at least the first few days, he also was having mild episodes. He had just come back from spending a month at Bombay Beach in the desert to write, but does not know any particular reason that could have caused his symptoms.

Prefer soft , light , bland , vegan diet with fresh curd preferably .
