Suggest Treatment For Depression And Refusal Of Medical Help
Hello,
I have an 18 year old brother, he will be 19 in April. I believe he is depressed. He is aggressive, angry, full of rage and resentment towards my parents, particularly my mother, threatening her and actually making her scared of him. He his abusive to my parents and is ruining our family, yet he wont admit anything is wrong and doesnt want help. He uses profanities whenever we mention he may need help. He doesnt care about anyone, at least in our family, and spends all of his time at his friends house. Literally everyday. What can we do/should we do? It is really destroying our family and my mother is breaking down. He needs help and we all think something is wrong. It is not typical teenage-adolescent growth. He is physically, mentally, and verbally abusive to everyone in our family. What should we do if he refuses to seek help?

In that case, you should consult a psychiatrist and think about get him admitted in a psychiatric set up. With treatment and proper diagnosis, he would improve. Sometime, patients do not want to admit in hospital, in that case, you can discuss with psychiatrist and take help of police for admission. In case, you need further help,you can ask.
