Suggest Treatment For Delay In Periods

Hi I'm only 19 and very anxious that I'm am pregnant. I was supposed to get my period 10 days ago and my periods are usually very regular. I have some cramping like I'm going to get my period and cloudy pee other than that no other symptoms. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it came out negative I've had unprotected sex in a monogamous relationship and use the pull out method which is not going to happen anymore. Also I was dieting and excercising quite a lot the week my period was supposed to come so I stopped but still no period.

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

If you had regular periods, chances of getting pregnant are most from day 12-18 of the menstrual cycle. Check to see if you had unprotected sex then. Also, sometimes delayed ovulation may cause a late pregnancy and cause the test to come positive a little late.

Stress, infection, too much exercise and weight loss are also reasons for delayed periods.

The pain that you are having and the cloudy urine indicate an underlying urine infection. I suggest you get a urine examination done for infection, drink plenty of water and take some antibiotics if needed [according to the test report] to help control infection.

The chances of pregnancy are on the lower side as your periods were regular and it is been 10 days overdue and the test is still negative. I suggest you get a repeat test after 7 days and if it is negative, pregnancy is ruled out. If you are too anxious you may get a blood HCG estimation to rule out pregnancy now. If there are still no periods you need to see a gynecologist for other causes.

I am happy to know that you have decided to have safe sex after this as it avoids all these issues and stress.

Please stop worrying as stress causes delayed periods. Things will be clear in a week.
Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
