General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Nexplanon contraceptive implant could cause delay in getting periods and menstrual irregularities are known side effects during the first few months after the implant.
It is advised to use other mode of contraception like condoms and spermicides in the first few weeks after the implant, as it carries a risk of pregnancy, till the implant is fully functional.
Since your are experiencing delay in periods as well as your pregnancy test is indicating positive, you need to undergo ultrasound scan and consult Gynaecologist with the report for clinical examination and further assistance without any delay.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
