Suggest Treatment For Dark Spots On The Back Caused By Chicken Pox

I ve dark spots from chicken pox on my back for years now. Occasionally, I will get pimples that become dark spots that are impossible to get rid of. They have spread to my shoulders and the back of arms. I have tried everything to get rid of them. I was even exfoliating the skin on my back every other day so they would lighten. Nothing is helping. How can I lighten and get rid of the dark spots so that I can buy a tank top and wear it in public again?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

Hyper pigmentation or scaring after chicken pox or acne are quite common and take time to dim or disappear.

I would suggest daily application of sunblock to the sun exposed areas. Vitamin C creams also help in reducing the scarring.

There are other treatment options available such as laser treatments or derma abrasions for scars and for that you will have to consult your local dermatologist.

I hope this answers your query. Please feel free to contact HCM agan if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
