Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Your history seems to suggest that you had and rather still have a
fungal infection at the crease. Itching and scaling being part of infection.
The dark patches are actually post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation/ PIH that is quite common with tinea/ fungal infections.
The creams that you used are purely topical steroids and though they would provide some symptomatic relief from itching as long as you use them, the infection is going to return once you stop these cream and moreover they would not resolve the infection.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to use a
topical antifungal like
sertaconazole, luliconazole or bifonazole, twice daily. You may try an OTC topical antifungal e.g clotrimazole cream, twice daily for 4-6 weeks.
I would also suggest an
Oral antifungal e.g weekly fluconazole for 4-6 weeks.
Oral antifungals together with topical antifungals are better able to take control of fungal infection.
Once the fungal infection resolves, pigmentation would resolve gradually.
I suggest you to visit a
dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
