Suggest Treatment For Cysts In Ovaries

I am 39 and I have cysts on my ovaries. I have had them before sometimes they pop . In the beginning of November 2013 I had one on each ovary 2cm. In December I had my appendix out and they were 4 cm. my dr tried telling me maybe I have just had issues with my appendix for the past 5 years and that caused my pain. I have went to the dr and er for the pain. They have always seen cysts on my ovaries. My dr told me to loose 10-15 lbs and they should go away. Well it did not happen. I have tried metformin, birth control pills and did not work. Metformin dropped my blood sugar levels to much. I have very bad vericous veins in my legs and was told don t take birth control. He want me to put a meraina iud in. I don t know what to do. I canceled my appointment with him a few months ago because I don t need a dr to tell me I get cysts because I am fat. I don t have normal periods. I will bleed for a few weeks that nothing for months. Lately I have been spotting and bleeding after sex. I have been getting hot flashes a lot the past few months. I have been having more pain lately. What should I do?

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer some suggestions. From the description of your symptoms, it appears as though you are experiencing hormone imbalance. You need a complete hormone assay including thyroid profile, serum prolactin levels, FSH, LH, serum DHEAS and plan further management accordingly. You may benefit from low dose progesterone medication if deemed fit. If you have post coital bleeding, you have to get a pap smear, exclude other local causes like infection and polyps. You may also need an endometrial biopsy. Hope this helps.
