Suggest Treatment For Cystic Fibrosis

Hi I have cystic fibrosis and accidently burned and melted my nebuilzer equipment when I was sterilzing it on the stove. The house was filled with black smoke. I have opened all the windows and am airing out the apartment now. Is it safe to be here or am I inhaling toxic fumes?

Open burning of plastic waste is simply dangerous to your health and the health of the environment. Plastic such as PVC (polyvinylchloride) is common in such things as bottles and jugs, plastic packaging and blister packs, etc. When these are burnt in the house, carbon monoxide, dioxins and furans are released into your air. Whilst carbon monoxide is a pretty well known poison, dioxins and furans are not. Studies have linked dioxins and furans to cancer and respiratory disease.AS you have opened widows and let out all toxic fumes it is unlikely to have caused any major effect. If you are asthmatic, exposure to fumes would have initiated a bout of cough and wheezing. It would be better to get a lot of fresh air going outside. If you have any signs of cough or wheezing or any other symptoms it is better to consult your doctor. Take care.
