Suggest Treatment For Cyst On Testicle

Hi so I have had an abscess or cyst on my right testical for about 8-10 months. I was hoping it would just go away but it never did. So last week I went to see a local San Diego urologist. She went through all the normal medical questions before examining me. Upon examination she said it appeared to be an abscess. It was like a pea sized bump that was red and swollen on the outside of my testical. So she prescribed me that antibiotic sulfamethoxazole. I have been taking it for about a week now. The abscess seemed to go down on the outside of my testical but now there seems to be a bigger lump growing inside the skin. It s also very sensitive to touch and hurts. Very uncomfortable. So what I m asking is, is this normal, the swelling underneath the skin? Why is it hurting? Is that the antibiotics doing there job or is there something wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
No It is not normal.
Although Sulfamethoxazole is a good antibiotic and covers most of the gram positive and negative bacteria but it seems it is not effective here.
I would suggest you to have Incision and drainage of the abscess and have it covered with broad spectrum antibiotics and antiinflammatory medications.
Also check your blood sugar levels.
Thanks.
