Suggest Treatment For Cough And Wheezing

I have now stopped smoking after 45 years- cold turkey - and have developed a wheeze and cough that sounds like it wants to produce sputum-but no sputum is coming out of me--it has been 8 days since my last cigarette--I smoked about 40 a day for the last two years--before that probably about a pack--my question--will the wheeze stop?

I never had it before--will the cough stop? that's what made me quit..but it seems to be worse now!! and why no sputum? Many Thanks!

Hello
You developed cough ( dry ) , that forced you to stop smoking , you took a right step in right direction.
Since you were a chain smokers and this smoking produces allergy , hence you developed asthmatic allergic bronchitis .
Patient develops typical sound in lungs ( airways ) either during inhalation or exhalation due to smoking or other allergen particles.
These ( allergens ) produces bronchoconstriction and this produces wheezing and cough .
If infection aided this produces phlegm ( expectoration ) .
When such patient visit my clinic I prescribe them monteleukast+ bambuterol tablet once or twice ind day till complete relief.
Dextromethorphan + chlorpheniramine maleat syrup also advised.
Since this is a prescription drugs so consult your doctor .
Good luck.
