Suggest Treatment For Constipation

My grandfather was up all night with severe stomach pains, but when he went to the doctor today (after doing a rectal exam (his poop was not hardpacked, and an exray) was that if he was still having severe pain to go to the hospital. He seems to think it is related to constipation but when he took milk of magnesia six hours ago, it didn't help him go at all. I'm really scared

hi
I read through your question and understand your concerns, I would initially like you to calm down,

based on your querry , i may suggest you to watch out for the following signs which when present immediately take him to a nearby doctor,

-obstipation( not able to pass out gas)
-persistent abdominal pain despite medication
-any green colour vomiting(bilious vomiting)
-or blood in faeces
- developing fever
-any urinary problems ? such as not able to pass urine freely or burning densation when urinating.

according to what you have mentioned

considering if the x-ray is normal, you may have little to worry

the milk of magnesia is a basic drug, try the foll: medication and if still the symptoms don't subside it is better to re -investigate and examine for other causes.

-T.Pan-D 1-0-0(before food)
-syp.sucralfate 1-1-1(before food)
-syp.dupholac 0-0-1(15 ml in half glass of water
at night after food)

If these medications fail to alleviate your grandfathers symptoms it is better to check for other causes.

wish u a speedy recovery..!!
god bless..
