My father is having severe constipation problem since 2 months, a physician recommended him to take Rabonik plus, endoze, gutclear liquid, creamadite plus powder and PAN-L capsules. But even after taking all the medicines he has not been relived from the problem and he is getting weak day by day and a day before yesterday he had a feel of missing pulse, please advice.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Constipation is a normal component in old age and usually well managed by laxatives. Your fathers history suggests a more acute change in bowel habits not responding to laxatives and so warrants further investigation. Meanwhile your father needs a digital rectal evacuation to clear out the impacted stools and you should consult with a surgeon for the same.
