Regarding your concern I would explain that in you dad case, his prognosis will be influenced principally from his cardiac function impairment ( LVEF), and other cardiac parameters as well, in conjunction with other organs involvement (brain, lung, liver, kidney,etc) Diabetes left untreated properly, may cause severe cardiac, renal as well as other organs dysfunction. If the patient shows a satisfactory response to diuretics and other treatment the short prognosis is good, but remain to determine the long prognosis based on the above mentioned indices.
