Suggest Treatment For Cold, Productive Cough And Stuffy Nose
I have had a cold since 31st December 2013, which is not really clearing. I did not take an antibiotic as I thought I did not need one. However 10 days later I have a bad productive cough, a stuffy nose ( can't smell anything). I started taking Mabthera for Rheumatoid Arthritis in December - not sure if there is a link. Should I go and see my Rheumatologist?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have old, productive cough and stuffy nose which is due to chronic infection of upper respiratory tract and long standing lung infection as well. As you have tried all combination of medications and getting not much relief , I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist/Rheumatologist once and get chest X-ray done. You should get pulmonary function test done for to know about the extent of infection. after proper evaluation start treatment. Treatment should be symptomatic. Till then give child steam inhalation. Apply humidifiers in room. Give vaporizers rub. . Mast cell stablizers such as sodium cromoglycate is effective to prevent infection. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
