Suggest Treatment For Cold, Cough And Sharp Chest Pain

I have had a bad cold with a cough and tonight I had a coughing fit that started with a tickle in my airway. After coughing for some time I got a painful needle like sensation across my chest and back and it turned bright red. When my cough stopped the pain stopped. What is causing this?

I really appreciate your concern, forceful coughing may cause such pain, although underlying cause of cough would be matter of concern and better to get done some test till then take care while coughing and no need to worry about this, hope this information helps.
