Allergist and Immunologist 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. Although there is no direct relation with constipation and cold allergy but there is indirect connection. Constipation is connected with GERD (gastritis, feeling of sour fluid in mouth, etc) and GERD is connected with rhinosinusitis.

So it is important that patients with nose obstruction and other nose symptoms along with gastric symptoms keep their bowels perfect.

2. As an Allergist-Immunologist, I would like to mention here that such nose symptoms actually may or may not be associated with "allergy". I would suggest you to get allergy testing done for common air-borne allergens such as house dust mites, molds, pollens, insect proteins, animal dander, etc to know whether you have any allergies.

3. Cold air does not cause "allergy". It is an airway irritant which aggravates any airway related symptoms such as nose obstruction, breathing difficulty, sneezing, nose irritation, etc.

4. For my patients who have similar complaints, I suggest them to treat constipation and gastritis simultaneously which will help them in a long run.

5. For nose symptoms, I would suggest you to use antihistamines like cetirizine or levocetirizine along with regular steam inhalation.

6. I would also suggest you to smoking, alcohol, caffeinated beverages. Please avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
