Cognitive therapy is one of commonly used psychological method of treatment. Medicines like SSRIs as Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline etc are commonly used. These medicines help to improve the negative thoughts and help in improvement in depression. Please talk to your mother and then take proper advise from a psychiatrist.
