Suggest Treatment For Chronic Constipation

I drink a lot of water daily, take metamucil and acidopholis but am still constipated. As if there is a membrane that I am straining agains. The will and want are present. I take laxatives that sometimes work and sometimes not. But even after evacuation which I am not satisfied is complete, I am immediately constipated once again. I have been cycling this for six months. The back up is causing resperatory distress and subsequently loss of sleep. Please offer me some relief.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic constipation which can occur due to many reasons and it is extremely important to find out the exact cause. Need not to worry. I would advise you to consult a physician or gastroenterologist and get examination done like complete blood count, stool examination, ultrasound scan of abdomen, colonoscopy & contrast studies. You should start treatment after complete examination. Doctor may prescribe you traditional drugs like lactulose, milk of magnesia and cremaffin or bisacodyl tablets. Drink one spoon of honey in warm water daily . This will be really helpful .
