Suggest Treatment For Chest Infection With Fever And Diarrhea

Hi, my two year old daughter came home from play school on Thursday with a high temp and a runny tummy. Yesterday she started coughing and it has worsened during the night. She is now struggling to take a deep breath and is rapidly breathing instead. She also sounds very wheezy after coughing . She still has a high temp although it has come down after a spoon of calpol. I am just wondering if I should sit it out and see if she gets better although I am worried if she gets worse during the night. It is not like a normal cold for her as she seems chesty.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thankyou foe your question. I am sorry your daughter is not well. Though difficult to diagnose without an exam, I have to consider pnemonia as a possible cause.this would account for the fever and worsening cough. If this is indded the diagnosis, she will require antibiotic treatment. I recommend consulting with your doctor so the correct diagnosis can be made and the appropriate treatment plan implemented.
