Suggest Treatment For Canker Sores On Lip And In The Mouth

I have a ulcer looking sore that started on the inside of my mouth (just on the moist part of my lower lip). It was a yellowish white in colour with with a red outline around it. The yellowish centre was not fluid it was more like a covering.There was no itching, burning or tingling before it appeared. The night before it came up i had some really salty food then the next morning it was there and after that it was really sore it hurt if i talked too much. Its now nearly gone after only 7 days. I thought it could possibly be a canker sore as i have had them before but usually on my upper lip, however even though the original ulcer started on the inside of my mouth it spread slightly to th dry area where my lips touch. Could this still be a canker sore?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain an ulcer on the inside of the inner lip and as per your explanation of the presentation of the ulcer it seems to be a canker sore only and although you get canker sore frequently on inner side of upper lip but there is nothing abnormal in case if you get a canker sore on the inside of lower lip..

It can occur due to a number of causes like deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, allergic reaction, dry mouth, physical trauma, excess intake of sour and spicy foods etc, while at times there is no probable underlying cause..

I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles, apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine to relieve pain, gargle with soda bicarb solution, suck ice pops..
Avoid spicy, sour and hard foods..
Drink plenty of cool water..
Maintain a good oral hygiene..
