Suggest Treatment For Burning Urination And Sharp Abdominal Pains

Hi there, for the past few days I have had on and off sensations of burning urination and need to go frequently and occasional sharp abdominal pains. I think its a UTI but today I have had some discharge that doesn t seem unsual and my inner vaginal wall is painful to touch and seems a bit swollen. Could this still be a UTI or may it be a STI? I have a boyfriend and have only ever had sex with him.

Dear Patient,

I can understand your concern. Your symptoms suggest that the infection can be either in urinary tract or in vagina.

However, the symptoms indicate bacterial infection only and no STD. Take Levofloxacin 250 mg (Levoflox) twice a day for five days. You can take Acetaminophen 500 mg twice or thrice a day for abdominal pains till infection resolves. Keep drinking lots of fluids.

If you do not find relief in 5 days, you should send your urine and vaginal swabs for analysis. Based on the test results, further treatment can be advised.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you recovery soon!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
