My daughter was hit with a volleyball and experienced very little pain but had difficulty seeing. Her vision returned in a very short time but still complained of a grey patch in the upper half of her vision. A visit to the ophthalmologist brought a diagnosis of a bruised retina . The doctor stated that it was not a tear or detachment but was not very detailed. When we asked what the treatment should be, only then did he say don t play volleyball. My question: Can a bruise become a tear or detachment if my daughter continues to play? Does movement aggravate the injury or is it more the risk of being hit again? Could another impact cause tear/detachment?
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having injury to the eye following which you have developed bruise of the retina. This needs to be evaluated by fundoscopy and by ultrasound examination. It is better to avoid playing till the condition resolves. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
