Suggest Treatment For Bruise And Pain In Knee Due To A Injury

I hit my knee REALLY HARD on a metal pole. At first it hurt excruciatingly and a bruise appeared on my knee almost instantly about the size of a golf ball. After a while, the bruise went away. I can t feel anything when I touch it on the surface, but when I prod it, accidentally bump it or straighten my knee too quickly, a sharp pain goes up my leg. What s wrong with it and how fast will it heal? Will the bruise come back?

Hi, Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you had knee injury. It seems to me soft tissue injury .As sharp pain goes in my knee too quickly when you straighten your knee there can be meniscus injury. But X-ray should be done to exclude fracture which is unlikely.MRI of knee joint is needed to be done to rule out ligament and menisci injury. These injuries are slow to heal , may took 2-3 weeks time to heal. Its treatment assuming soft tissue injury is rest to part. Quadriceps exercises and mobilization exercises of knee will help in regaining movements of knee.Analgesic ( ibuprofen) will be helpful in pain relief , if pain relief not there by it then strong analgesic such as tramadol can be taken. You can take vitamin B-complex and C to promote healing. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
