Suggest Treatment For Broken Fibula And Torn Ligaments

I broke my fibula and tore some ligaments as well. I had ORIF surgery and now have a plate and 6 screws, one of which is holding my tibia and fibula together. I am only 20 years and worried about the long term effects. Does this mean I will have arthritis at a young age? I used to be incredibly active and don't know what to expect.

Hi
Welcome to healthcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you got fracture of fibula and probably injury inferior tibiofibular joints. For which you were treated by plate and screw. These fracture if treated accurately by internal fixation done not make prone to early osteoarthritis. However this ankle may starts arthritis earlier by one year when compared to other normal joint. So no need to worry. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any further questions then don't hesitate to writing to us . I will be happy to help you.
